Dogs Make Children Exposed to Asthma

For children, a dog in the house turned out to increase the chances of developing lung disease. Thus a new study shows.

The study followed 380 children found an increase in asthma risk because of family history. The study noted, those who have allergies to dogs at the age of 7 years, known more likely to have asthma. Conversely, no correlation between children who are exposed to a cat allergy and asthma risk to children.

Studies trying to find a good reason why a dog associated with high risk of asthma, whereas the cat does not. "One possible factor is endotoxin, a substance produced by bacteria known to trigger inflammation in the airways," says lead researcher, Dr. Chris Carlsten, Vancouver General Hospital, British Columbia, Canada, told Reuters.

According to Carlsten, dogs tend to have a lot of endotoxin in their bodies, while the cat just a little. But in general, Carlsten says there is insufficient evidence to recommend a family for not maintaining the animals.
